Place of birth. Education. He was born in Sochi in the Krasnodar region. Since 1966 he lived in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod). In 1981, he graduated from Gorky State University named after Lobachevsky with a degree in radio physics, specialization - radio physics.

Career. 1990-1993 - people's deputy of the Russian Federation, member of the legislative committee of the State Duma of Russia.

From August 1991 to April 1994, he was the representative of President Boris Yeltsin in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

In November 1991, he was appointed governor (head of the administration) of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

In 1993, he was elected a member of the Federation Council (the upper chamber) of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

In December 1995, he was elected governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region and took a seat in the Federation Council of Russia.

In the spring of 1997, he was appointed the first deputy prime minister of the Government of the Russian Federation. At the same time, he was appointed Minister of Fuel and Energy of Russia (he held this position until November 1997) and deputy chairman of the government operational commission. In May 2001, he was elected chairman of the Federal Political Council of the 'Union of Right Forces' political party.

From February 2004 to December 2005, he was the chairman of the board of directors of the Naftovyj concern.

From February 2005 to October 2006, he was an advisor to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko.

In 2007, he was number 2 on the SPS election list. Proposed by the SPS party for the position of President of Russia, but soon withdrew from participating in the elections in favor of Mikhail Kasyanov. In 2008, he suspended his membership in the SPS.

Since 2008, he has been a member of the bureau of the United Democratic Movement 'Solidarity'. In March 2009, the 'Solidarity' bureau nominated Nemtsov for the mayor of Sochi. In the elections held on April 26, 2009, Borys Nemtsov took second place, gaining 13.6% of the votes.

In 2012, he was elected co-chairman of the political party 'Republican Party of Russia - People's Freedom Party' (RPR-PARNAS).

In September 2013, he was elected deputy of the Yaroslavl Regional Duma of the 6th convocation in the regional elections.

Assassination. On February 7, 2015, Borys Nemtsov was shot in downtown Moscow late at night. According to witnesses, he was shot at least four times. The politician died on the spot. The Russian police reports that there are witnesses to the murder, but details are not disclosed. An investigation into the murder and illegal arms trafficking has been initiated.

The Investigative Committee of Russia stated that they are considering several versions of the murder of Borys Nemtsov: to provoke a destabilization of the political situation, an Islamic-extremist version, as well as one related, as they express in the investigation, to 'internal Ukrainian events'.
