Paul Ryan

Paul Davis Ryan is an American politician, a member of the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin since 1999, the Republican Party's candidate for Vice President in the 2012 elections, and Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019.
Place of Birth. Education. He was born on January 29, 1970. He grew up in Janesville, Wisconsin, in a family of Irish and German descent. Ryan earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from Miami University in Ohio.
Political Career. In the mid to late 1990s, he worked as an assistant to U.S. Senator Bob Kasten, then as legislative director for Senator Sam Brownback, and finally as a speechwriter for former U.S. Congressman Jack Kemp.
In November 1998, Ryan won the election for the United States House of Representatives in Wisconsin's 1st district and took office in January 1999.
Since 1998, he was re-elected to Congress from his district in every election (Congressional elections occur every two years in November) and received between 55 and 68% of the votes each time.
From 2011 to 2015, Ryan served as the Chairman of the House Budget Committee, where he played a significant role in the development and promotion of long-term budget proposals from the Republican Party. As an alternative to President Barack Obama's budget plan for 2012, Ryan presented the 'Road to Prosperity' plan, which contained controversial changes to the Medicare health program.
On October 29, 2015, Ryan was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives following the resignation of John Boehner (the Speaker of the House of Representatives is third in line in the hierarchy of the U.S. government). Ryan's candidacy was supported by 239 members of Congress out of the required 218. He took office that day.
In April 2019, Paul Ryan confirmed that he would not seek re-election in the November midterms. In early January 2019, Paul Ryan stepped down as Speaker.
Views. After Donald Trump was named the presumptive Republican presidential nominee on May 4, 2016, Ryan refused to endorse him, stating that he was not yet ready to do so. Ryan officially endorsed Trump on June 2, 2016, but later criticized him several times.
Ryan is often quoted for his conservative views on economic policy, particularly regarding the Medicare program.
Family. Ryan is married and has three children. He is Roman Catholic. Ryan's great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all died of heart attacks at ages 56, 57, and 59, respectively, which is one of the reasons Ryan advocates for an active lifestyle and participates actively in sports. He has made over 40 ascents of mountain peaks in Colorado over 4,000 meters.
