Valentyna Oleksandrivna Semerenko - Ukrainian biathlete, Olympic champion 2014 in the relay and world champion 2015 in the mass start, holder of six medals at world championships of various ranks, multiple European champion, multiple World Cup medalist, 16-time participant in biathlon races at the Olympic Games (an absolute record for the Olympics among women). Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in the settlement of Krasnopolye, Sumy Region. Graduated from Sumy State Pedagogical University A.S. Makarenko.

Valentyna Semerenko began her sports career in cross-country skiing and switched to biathlon after a few years. In 2004 she became world champion among juniors and in 2006 European champion. Additionally, she is a multiple national champion and many times Ukrainian champion, winning four medals at the XXIII Winter Universiade. 4-time medalist at world championships, multiple European champion, multiple World Cup medalist. Participation in the Winter Olympic Games 2006 in Turin, 2010 in Vancouver, 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang.
European Championship-2007 (Bansko) – Bronze in the sprint over 7.5 km.
European Championship-2008 (Nové Město) - Gold in the relay 4x6 km.
European Championship-2009 (Ufa) - Gold in the relay 4x6 km.
World Championship-2008 (Östersund) – Silver in the relay 4x6 km.
Participation in the Olympic Games 2006 in Turin - 46th place in the individual race.
On January 7, 2009, she won for the first time together with Yelena Pidrushna, Vita Semerenko, and Oksana Khvostenko the relay competition at the World Cup in Oberhof. That was the first victory of the Semerenko sisters in relay races.
World Cup-2009 (Vancouver) - Bronze in the individual race.
At the Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010, she participated with her sister Vita but could not win an Olympic medal.
European Championship-2012 (Osrblie) - Gold in the relay 4×6 km.
The first personal victory - on December 15, 2013, in the pursuit race at the World Cup in Annecy, France. Biathlon World Championship 2013 (Nové Město) - she made a mistake at the first shooting range and took third place in the individual race and second in the relay with Yuliya Dzhima, Vita Semerenko, and Yelena Pidrushna.
At the Winter Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi she won Gold in the relay 4×6 km (together with Yuliya Dzhima, Vita Semerenko, and Yelena Pidrushna).
European Championship-2015 (Otepää) - Gold in the relay 4×6 km.
World Championship-2015 (Kontiolahti) - Gold in the mass start over 12.5 km.
Family. Married, husband Oleksiy Prokhor (born 1980), cross-country skier. They have a son.
