Olena Kostevych became the first Ukrainian woman to compete in six Summer Olympics. She set a Ukrainian record for the number of appearances at these games. The athlete specializes in pistol shooting.
At the Olympic Games in Paris, Olena participated in the 10-meter air pistol shooting qualification. She placed 19th and did not make it to the finals.
Previously, Ukraine was represented at five Olympics by Oleg Lykov, Maksym Oberemko, Andriy Derizemlya, Valentyna Shevchenko, Oleksandr Abramenko, Nataliya Fokina-Semenova, and Valentyna Semerenko. Fencer Olha Kharlan also competed in five Olympics. In Paris, she will compete for the fifth time.
39-year-old Olena Kostevych is an Olympic champion. She won gold in 2004 in Athens, as well as two bronze medals in 2012 in London and in 2020 in Tokyo.
The morning program of the first day of competitions in Paris has already taken place, where the standout winners were in rowing. Ukraine will be represented in two disciplines - women's quadruple sculls and men's lightweight double sculls.
Athletes from Ukraine will compete in various sports at the Olympics, except for team sports. The football team will be represented at the Games for the first time in its history.
