Konstantin Stogniy

Date of Birth: 16.08.1968
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Kyiv. At the age of 18, he entered the KGB of the USSR Special Forces School and underwent six months of training for operations in combat zones. After graduating from school, he fought in Afghanistan.
He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. He interned at various Soviet, Ukrainian, and foreign editorial offices and agencies.
Career. He was the program coordinator for 'Countries of the Former USSR' for the American magazine 'National Geographic'. Together with French colleagues, he produced radio reports from the conflict zone of Transnistria.
In 1994, he began his service at the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and two years later transferred to the operational service of the Criminal Police.
From December 2006 to the following year, Colonel Konstantin Stogniy led the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (under Interior Minister Vasyl Tsushko). Since January 1, 2008, he has been retired.
From 1998 to 2007, he worked with the television channel Inter. His shows and reports on sensational criminal events, historical investigations, and reports from disaster sites always had high ratings.
In January 2008, he became the author and host of the informational and journalistic project 'Nadzvichayni novyny' on ICTV channel. The program reports on extraordinary events in Ukraine and around the world: traffic accidents, sensational crimes, disasters, terrorist attacks. A special focus is on information that would help viewers avoid certain extraordinary situations.
From March 2010 to January 23, 2011, he served as a senior advisor to Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov.
In March 2015, the parliamentary faction of the Opposition Bloc announced the formation of a so-called 'Opposition Government' involving former People's Deputy of the Party of Regions Boris Kolesnikov. Konstantin Stogniy was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs and Minister for Extraordinary Situations in the 'Shadow Government'.
Documentaries. Since 2003, Konstantin Stogniy has been producing his own documentaries. He works in 'hotspots' around the world filming sensational events and natural disasters: the crash of 'Columbia', tsunami in Thailand, rescue of the pirate-captured ship 'Faina'. Conflict zones are also Stogniy's focus: Kosovo, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Transnistria.
During this period, he created 58 documentary projects. Among them:
'Path of Life' - 2003, expedition in Iraq. For this film, he was awarded the Medal of Gratitude by President Saddam Hussein,
'Guardians of the Holy Sepulchre' - 2003, expedition in Syria,
'Skill Shortage' - 2006, expedition in Georgia. For this film, he was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Eduard Shevardnadze,
'Tsunami' - 2004, expedition in Thailand,
'The Mystery of Object 100' - 2008, expedition in Puerto Rico,
'Caught in the Devil's Wake' - 2009, expedition in Afghanistan,
'War of Intelligence Services' - 2010, expedition in Somalia,
'Hitler’s Last Secret' - 2011, Chile-Argentina-Antarctica.
Author. Konstantin Stogniy is the author of several books, including: 'high-profile cases of the Interior Ministry' (co-authored with A. Kokotyukha), 'The Real Detective', 'Exotic Places of the Planet', 'The Top Ten of the Speznas', 'Crime', 'In Search of Happiness. Asian Diary'. In 2015, the adventure novel 'Pangapu' about an expedition to the islands of the Pacific was published.
Awards. In 2004, he received the Order 'For Courage' III class.
Family. Konstantin Stogniy is married and has three daughters.
