Katerina Michailovna Juszczenko (Chumachenko) - Ukrainian and American economist, entrepreneur, second wife of the third president of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko (2005-2010). She had a successful career in the US government and private business, currently engaged in charitable activities.

Family.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, in a family of Ukrainian immigrants. Her father, Mykhailo Chumachenko, was born in 1917 in the village of Zaytseve in the Kharkiv region in a large peasant family. He was one of the few members of his family who survived the famine of 1932-33. Chumachenko graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Lysychansk in the Luhansk region. He later served in the Red Army, participated in the frontline operations of the Great Patriotic War, was captured, and taken to Germany for forced labor in 1942.
