Telegram ignored court subpoenas and warrants for several years – WSJ.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Telegram accumulated court subpoenas and warrants in its rarely checked email. This information was confirmed by a source close to the platform's founder, Pavel Durov.
It was stated that for several years Telegram practically ignored the authorities' requests.
French authorities accused Durov of refusing to cooperate with the investigation. Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau noted that the messenger had little response to court demands.
Moreover, Durov was charged with distributing child pornography, drug trafficking, and fraud. He was detained on August 24 at Le Bourget airport in Paris, and on the 28th, the court decided that Durov should be monitored. He was forbidden to leave France, required to post a bail of €5 million, and to report to the police station twice a week.
