Norris supported Amorim after Manchester United's sensational defeat.
Lando Norris supported Ruben Amorim
According to The Sun: Formula 1 star Lando Norris unexpectedly expressed his support for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.
The 25-year-old McLaren driver shared a public statement on Instagram a day after United's disappointing match against League Two team Grimsby in the Carabao Cup.
GettyAlthough Norris had never publicly expressed support for the team before, he was spotted wearing a United shirt at a tennis match with other Formula 1 drivers in April.
Now the British racer has expressed support for Amorim, who is set to hold important discussions about his future next week.
“Really I just wanna see the whole team happy and smiling and see Amorim do well. That’s all I really want.”
One user noted that this could have been part of a bet with his friend Angry Ginge, known as a passionate Manchester United fan from Salford.
Amorim looked shattered after his team exited in the second round of the cup, losing 12-11 in a penalty shootout - the score was 2-2 after normal time.
Grimsby players Charles Vernham and young player Kerrington Tyrell Warren put their team ahead, but United was lucky to take the match to penalties thanks to a goal from Harry Maguire after a shot from Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo failed to convert the 26th penalty in the historic match that lasted 18 minutes, sending the fourth division team into history.
The pressure on Amorim has increased after the team failed to win any of their first two Premier League matches. Without European football, their chances of winning trophies this season have significantly decreased.

Norris was likely watching the historic match from Amsterdam, preparing for the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend as Formula 1 resumes after the summer break.
He is trailing his teammate Oscar Piastri by nine points ahead of this Sunday's race, while other drivers are hard to count in the fight, considering there are only ten races left in total.

The situation on the field could significantly impact the future of both the coach and the club as a whole.
Despite the setbacks, Manchester United has the potential to bounce back, and it is important how the team adapts to new challenges that may arise on the horizon under Ruben Amorim's leadership.
