The Guardian: After Trump's victory, demand for abortion medications increased.
After Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election, there was an increase in demand for emergency contraception, abortion, and gender-affirmative medications. According to medical workers, more than five thousand requests were registered on the website of the leading mail-order abortion medication provider, Aid Access, a few hours after the announcement of the results. This is stated in an article by The Guardian.
The increase in demand also occurred across the entire United States. The telemedicine service Wisp recorded a 300% increase in requests for emergency contraception, and the website Plan C, which helps find abortion medications, experienced a 625% increase in traffic.
Obviously, people are trying to prepare for the reproductive apocalypse we expect under Trump's presidency - said activist Elisa Wells.
According to the newspaper, the panic concerns not only abortion medications. Sales of emergency contraception tripled, and requests for wholesale Plan B packages accounted for almost 90% of all orders. The company Winx reported a sixfold increase in sales of doses of Plan B compared to the last seven days.
Women are smart. We see what's happening and are protecting ourselves - emphasized Winx founder Cynthia Plotch.
Medical workers are urging patients not to panic, as they will continue to provide services as long as it is legal. Policy analysis that will not stop access to contraception and doctors was carried out by Elisa Wells.
After Trump's victory, Elon Musk's daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson decided to leave the USA. Even in the absence of new restrictions for transgender people in the country, she finds the societal moods and support for Trump unacceptable.
US Presidential Election Map
The newly elected US President Donald Trump is preparing for major changes during his return to the White House. He plans to change approaches to taxes, regulation, and cultural issues by adding a populist emphasis on trade and the international role of the US. The plan also includes changes in the protection of civil rights and the expansion of presidential powers.
Trump received 295 electoral votes, which was enough for his victory. Trump's opponent, Kamala Harris, received 226 electoral votes.
