The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, posthumously awarded Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy Mikhail Gudkov with the second 'Gold Star' medal. The award was given for courage and heroism during the special military operation.
«For the courage and heroism displayed during the special military operation, to award the Hero of the Russian Federation, Major General Mikhail Yevgenovich Gudkov, with the second 'Gold Star' medal (posthumously)», - states the decree.
Additionally, Putin named the 155th Marine Brigade after 'twice Hero of the Russian Federation Major General M. Y. Gudkov'.
Twice Hero of Russia Mikhail Gudkov
Mikhail Gudkov became the first person in the history of Russia to receive the title of Hero twice. He was awarded this title in October 2023 for courage and military achievements during the Russo-Ukrainian War. He died during a Ukrainian strike in Kursk, which became known in Russia on July 3.
Mikhail Gudkov was appointed as Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy in March 2025.
The Russian news agency 'Interfax' reported that President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy Mikhail Gudkov with the 'Gold Star' medal for his courage and heroism during the special military operation.
