Wayne Rooney on Manchester United: Amorim has no more excuses.
According to The Sun: Yesterday, legendary Wayne Rooney expressed his concern regarding the start of Manchester United's season. After only one point gained in the first two Premier League matches, even the £200 million investment in new players is not helping the team. Rooney noted that the problems they had last season are still present.
Coach Ruben Amorim, who gathered only 28 points from 29 league matches, feels immense pressure to quickly improve results. After a draw with Fulham, where the team disappointed after a promising start, Rooney emphasized the importance of victories to alleviate the pressure.
“Now the coach has no excuses this season. He must start earning points and do it quickly. If we reach October or November without radical changes in results, then the pressure will come.”
“This season they were supposed to push forward right away, and one point out of six is a bit concerning.”
Rooney also raised the issue of whether Amorim is a long-term answer, emphasizing the need for additional strengthening despite a successful summer transfer window. He expressed concerns regarding the team's play and defensive issues, especially in set-piece situations.
Concerns about Manchester United's Play
Even after a full preseason, Rooney remains appalled by the constant mistakes and lack of teamwork. He noted that players often change positions, complicating the formation of a stable lineup and understanding of roles.
“There is a lot of talent there - but it's caused by having three center-backs who are very easy to attack. At the start of the new season, we should be saying: ‘last year is behind us, let’s stick together,’ but we are already starting to see gaps.”
“There is a big point regarding the goalkeeper at every corner.”
Wayne Rooney made serious remarks regarding Manchester United's play after the season's start, highlighting the team’s shortcomings and the lack of confidence in defense. The urgency of successfully integrating new players and quickly changing results to relieve pressure from coach Ruben Amorim is evident.
