Rivne, South Ukrainian, and Chornobyl nuclear power plants have not yet restored connections with all external power lines due to shelling on August 26. This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
"IAEA teams from Rivne, South Ukrainian, and Chornobyl NPPs reported that these sites have not yet restored connections with all external power lines after the large-scale military actions on August 26 targeted substations important for nuclear safety. The teams also reported air raid alarms on most days last week," the IAEA statement said.
It is currently unknown how this affects the operation of the NPPs.
However, drone overflights were recorded near the Khmelnytsky NPP.
In addition, Ukraine received necessary spare parts for emergency diesel generators at the South Ukrainian NPP thanks to an agreement to support Ukrainian NPPs with France and NNEGC "Energoatom".
The IAEA noted that in the absence of external power supply, the nuclear plants will use equipment that ensures safe and reliable operation.
