Trudeau explained what awaits the world in case Ukraine loses territory.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that the loss of territory by Ukraine due to Russian aggression threatens the international order based on rules and agreements.
'If Russia captures even an inch of Ukrainian territory, countries around the world will be forced to reconsider their territorial claims and may redraw borders, violating the UN Charter, as Russia has done, which will lead to destabilization of the international order,' Trudeau said during his speech at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
He emphasized that the prosperity of recent decades was achieved through the establishment of rules and their adherence, even during the Cold War.
Trudeau stressed that Canada understands the importance of a rules-based order for the protection of all countries. Russian illegal aggression not only seeks to change the map of the region but also incites the return of the idea that 'the stronger is always right.'
Given the large Ukrainian community, Ukraine holds special significance for Canada. 'Among NATO countries, our ties with Ukraine are unprecedented,' the Canadian Prime Minister concluded.
