New Housing Allowance Rates for Ukrainian Military Personnel Set for 2026.
Legislation on Monetary Compensation for Military Personnel
According to Novyny.live: New monthly housing allowance rates for Ukrainian service members renting accommodation near their duty stations will take effect in 2026. This policy aims to improve living conditions for military personnel stationed in various regions of the country. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to support the armed forces during a prolonged period of national defense.
Compensation Amounts
Under the new regulations, the monthly payment will be 4,560 UAH for personnel in Kyiv. Those in regional centers will receive 3,420 UAH per month, while service members in other localities will get 2,280 UAH monthly. The allowance increases by 1.5 times for personnel with three or more family members, a measure designed to assist those with greater household expenses.
Eligibility for this compensation extends to members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other defense force components. It is crucial to note that the payment is not automatic. To receive it, personnel must submit a formal report along with supporting documents confirming their eligibility. The allowance amount is set annually based on budget allocations, which may affect its final value.
In addition to the housing allowance, military personnel retain the right to receive land plots. However, due to the ongoing martial law, temporary restrictions are currently in place, which may complicate the process of obtaining these land allocations.
Consequently, the new 2026 housing compensation rates are intended to alleviate accommodation challenges for Ukraine's service members. While establishing these norms is a significant step in supporting troops operating in difficult conditions, the required bureaucratic procedures may pose an access barrier for some personnel seeking these payments.
