New Gas Network Maintenance Bills Arriving in March 2026: What Determines the Cost?.
Changes to Gas Network Maintenance Bills
According to Novyny.live: Starting in March 2026, a new, separate bill for gas network maintenance will be issued to some Ukrainian consumers. This new charge will be calculated based on several specific factors, including:
- The number of residents in a building;
- The number of apartments in the building;
- The count of gas risers;
- The total length of gas pipelines under common ownership;
- The number of installed shut-off devices;
- The distance from the building to the nearest gas distribution facility.
In 2026, the cost for this service will range from several hundred to several thousand hryvnias, depending on the criteria listed above. The frequency of mandatory gas network inspections will also affect the final price. For instance, buildings older than 25 years will require inspections every three years, while newer buildings will be inspected every five years.
Natural Gas Tariffs
In addition to the new maintenance fee, consumers should note the tariffs for natural gas supply. For most consumers supplied by 'Naftogaz of Ukraine', the gas tariff is set at UAH 7.96 per cubic meter. Furthermore, the gas distribution tariff for non-household consumers will be UAH 1.69 per cubic meter per month (excluding VAT) from January 1 to March 31, 2026, rising to UAH 1.99 per cubic meter per month (excluding VAT) from April 1 onward.
These changes are part of ongoing reforms in Ukraine's energy sector, which aim to modernize infrastructure but also increase costs for end-users. Consequently, households must prepare for these new gas network maintenance expenses, which will impact their budgets in 2026.
These changes to the gas network maintenance payment system could significantly increase the financial burden on Ukrainian households. The introduction of new calculation criteria may pose a challenge for many consumers, especially those living in older buildings.
Simultaneously, the adjustments to gas tariffs underscore the importance of careful household budget planning, as rising energy costs have already become a noticeable factor in the lives of Ukrainians.
