Explosion strikes central Cologne for the second time in a week: there is an injured person.
Another explosion occurred in central Cologne. This Time, a criminal planted an explosive device at the door of the LFDY clothing store. The store was completely destroyed, and a random passerby was injured, reports Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.
A witness reported the explosion to the police at 5 a.m. after hearing a loud sound. The explosion occurred in front of the clothing store, but the details of the incident are not yet established. Windows in the building were damaged, and firefighters had to extinguish a small fire.
One person tried to extinguish the fire before the arrival of the fire brigade and was interviewed by the police as a witness. The LFDY store in Cologne is a popular spot among young people and is operated by a company headquartered in Düsseldorf. The store was renovated and opened in November 2022.
This is the second explosion in Cologne in just the past two days. The Vanity nightclub was destroyed by an explosion that injured a cleaning lady at the venue, who was taken to the hospital. The club owner reported that an explosive device was placed near the building. The police are considering the version of criminal gang disputes among drug dealers.
