Participants in the meeting included members of the executive committee of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region and the chief artist of the city. The monument is planned to be made of black granite. The central part will be a pedestal without prize places, symbolizing the equality of all before the tragedy of war.

Its composition will have a crack from a missile, transitioning to a line of a cardiogram - a symbol of a broken human life. There have been previous reports about the consequences of the Russian invasion. Among those who died in the war were several prominent athletes, including boxer Volodymyr Mandziuk and volleyball player Andrii Romanov. Both died on the front lines. The creation of a monument to athletes and coaches who died during the Russian invasion is an important step in honoring their memory and recognizing their contribution to sports and the defense of Ukraine.
