The participants of the Ukrainian mixed martial arts team were involved in a car crash in Dnipropetrovsk region, leading to the death of two 18-year-old athletes.
The accident occurred on the evening of March 16 on the Dnipro - Kryvyi Rih highway. On that day, the MMA fighters received awards at the open championship of Dnipropetrovsk region and were returning home after the competition.
As a result of the accident, representatives of the Kryvyi Rih sports club 'Jaguar' - 18-year-old Mykyta Stepanov and Arsen Albertian died. Three other young athletes suffered serious injuries - Denys Lyashenko, Matviy Kuzyk, and Maksym Voloshyn.
It is also worth mentioning that on Saturday, March 15, the four-time European football champion with the German national team, Doris Fitschen, passed away at the age of 57.
In addition, on March 14 in Kyiv, the well-known former handball player and children's coach Lydia Shevchenko died at the age of 83.
