The EU member states have not yet made a decision on sending troops to Ukraine, but continue to support Ukraine in its self-defense. This was stated by EU spokesperson Peter Stano in response to questions from journalists regarding the EU's position on Donald Trump's statement about deploying European troops to the ceasefire line between Ukraine and Russia to end the conflict.

Stano emphasized that there is no decision within the EU regarding sending troops to Ukraine and European troops are currently stationed outside the country. The EU has its own military training mission, but the question of expanding the mandate of this mission to Ukraine is still being discussed.

'We have not made a decision to send our soldiers to Ukrainian territory. We continue to support Ukraine in its self-defense, but it is currently impossible to send European troops there,' Stano said.

Stano also mentioned that the EU will not comment on media reports about a phone call between Putin and Trump, as Moscow has already denied this information.

'When it comes to Ukraine and the EU, our position is clear. We support Ukraine in its self-defense and the principles of a just peace. This means respect for international law and the sovereignty of Ukraine,' emphasized the EU spokesperson.
