Ukrzaliznytsia restores the destroyed Lokomotiv stadium: when to expect a new arena.
A modern football stadium will appear in Kyiv in the coming years. 'Ukrzaliznytsia' has started the restoration and reconstruction of the destroyed Lokomotiv arena in Kyiv.
The Lokomotiv stadium in Kyiv, opened on August 2, 1925, will celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2025. Athletes were trained at the stadium, and it was maintained until January 2024, when a Russian missile strike destroyed the gym, locker rooms, and equipment.
A benefactor from the USA will help with the stadium restoration
'Ukrzaliznytsia' reported that thanks to the support of the Howard Buffett Foundation, the stadium will be completely restored and modernized for matches of the Second League of football. The reconstruction project has taken into account the proposals of railway workers, athletes, fans, parents of young athletes, urbanists, and community leaders. All permits have already been obtained, and the first phase will soon begin — updating the football field, constructing stands, locker rooms, referee zones, cafes, and an urban park. In addition to 'Lokomotiv', access to the new stadium and park is promised to be provided to the community of the Solomianskyi district.
As a result of the collaboration between 'Ukrzaliznytsia' and businessman Howard Buffett's foundation, the 'Lokomotiv' stadium in Kyiv will be restored and modernized. The project includes not only the restoration of the sports facility but also the creation of comfortable conditions for fans and athletes, as well as the arrangement of an urban park for the leisure of local residents.
