New Employment Rules Introduced in Lithuania for Ukrainians Without Temporary Protection.
From September this year, Ukrainians who do not have temporary protection status will be able to work in Lithuania only after obtaining a residence permit. Previously, this applied only to those foreigners who were registered with the Migration Department but did not have the right to temporary protection. Now these changes will apply to everyone except highly qualified workers.
Ukrainians who do not have the right to temporary protection and cannot return to Ukraine due to the war will be able to work only after obtaining a residence permit. For Ukrainian military refugees, these changes will not apply, as they benefit from the EU's temporary protection mechanism and receive digital certificates.
Furthermore, foreigners with temporary protection who apply for a residence permit for employment do not need the Lithuanian Employment Service's decision regarding the compliance of their job with the needs of the Lithuanian labor market.
