The Ministry of Defense explained the Algorithm for remote account opening for family members of foreign military personnel.
The Social Welfare Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has developed an Algorithm for remote account opening for family members of foreign military personnel. This algorithm concerns those who fight alongside the warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Russian aggressors but have died, gone missing, or been captured.
According to information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the algorithm includes a step-by-step plan for family members of foreign military personnel regarding receiving financial support and other payments.
To receive all payments, applicants must contact the Embassy of Ukraine in their country of residence and submit the appropriate documents.
The algorithm includes:
1. Family members of foreign military personnel who have died, gone missing, or been taken captive must visit the Embassy of Ukraine in the place of residence to verify identity and check legal capacity;
2. Authorize a representative in Ukraine with Ukrainian citizenship (lawyer, representative) to submit a set of documents to the territorial recruitment and social support center;
3. Authorize a representative in Ukraine with Ukrainian citizenship (lawyer, representative) to open an account in the state sector bank of Ukraine. This power of attorney is needed for account opening and conducting bank transactions once funds are received;
4. Prepare a set of documents which includes: - an application in Ukrainian for financial support (sample provided) (in case of death); - funeral assistance (in case of death); - a certified copy of the death certificate of the serviceman, certified by the military unit (in case of death); - certified copies of documents proving familial ties with the serviceman in accordance with Article 16 of the Law of Ukraine 'On social and legal protection of servicemen and their family members': a) for spouse - marriage certificate; b) for child - birth certificate; c) for parents - birth certificate of the serviceman; d) for dependents - document confirming dependency; - copies of documents verifying the identity of the family member; - copies of documents confirming registration in the State Register of Individuals - Taxpayers (for tax reporting); - consent for personal data processing in Ukrainian (sample provided); - other documents if available;
5. Send the set of certified and prepared documents, including powers of attorney, to the representative in Ukraine;
6. The representative in Ukraine opens an account in the state sector bank using the appropriate power of attorney;
7. The representative arrives at the TRCSP (as chosen) or the military unit and submits the aforementioned documents.
