Uefa announces a change in the Champions League rules before the draw - but it will only take effect next season.
New Features in the Champions League
According to The Sun: Changes to the Champions League rules could significantly impact the course of the competition – they will occur just a few hours before the draw.
Six teams from the Premier League will learn their opponents in the group stage at 17:00 in Monaco.
Modified group stage match system in the Champions LeagueAPNext season, it will not be possible to play the same match against the same teams for three seasons.
However, there is one condition – this change only applies to matches where one of the teams plays at home.
Therefore, there will be no repeat matches based on the results of this draw next season.
The UEFA system will monitor compliance with these rules.
Participating Teams
Six clubs from the Premier League have gained the opportunity to compete with the best teams in the world in the Champions League this season.

English clubs hope to end their streak of failures, as none have reached the Champions League final for two consecutive years.
The first stage will be the group stage.
Competition Format
The format will remain unchanged: the group stage with 36 teams will provide exciting matches throughout the tournament.
The teams have been selected from 27 clubs qualifying based on their league positions, winners of last year's Champions League and Europa League, as well as seven teams that passed the qualifications.
The teams are divided into four pots according to their UEFA ranking.
Each team will play eight matches, including two matches against each pot – one at home and one away.
Teams from the same federation cannot be matched and no more than two matches against teams from another federation.
Starting from pot 1, one ball will be drawn, after which automated software will assign eight opponents, considering the following rules:
- Two teams from each of the four pots, with one match at home and one away against teams from each pot chosen by the software.
- Teams from one federation cannot be chosen.
- No more than two opponents from one federation.
The schedule of Champions League matches with start times and dates will be published before Saturday, August 30.
These new rules aim to make the competition even more exciting for viewers and fans. It is expected that the changes will enhance the level of competition among teams, including Ukrainian clubs that have a chance to compete on the European stage. The draw promises to be intriguing, and all fans eagerly await the matches of the new season.
