UEFA transferred 10 million euros to Russian clubs: why Ukrainian teams did not receive money.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) transferred over 10 million euros in 'solidarity' payments to Russian football clubs, despite being banned from participating in international tournaments. This information was posted in The Guardian.
Russian clubs received payments from the revenues of European competitions amounting to 10.8 million euros, despite the ban on participation in official tournaments of the Federation.
At the same time, Ukrainian teams, such as 'Chornomorets', 'Real Pharma' (Odesa), 'Metalurh' (Zaporizhzhia), 'Phoenix-Mariupol' and 'Metalist 1925' (Kharkiv), did not receive any payments. The reason is 'absolutely incomprehensible requirements of the bank in Switzerland', which are linked to the geographical location of the clubs in the 'combat zone'. The leadership of Ukrainian teams expressed outrage and emphasized the violation of the principle of fairness in the distribution of funds in wartime conditions.
UEFA has not yet provided an official response regarding this situation, but the issue of the distribution of funds among member countries affected by military actions remains open.
