Crimea's Situation After Ukraine Secures Control of the Land Corridor

According to UATV: On June 14, 2023, Ukrainian defense forces took control of the land corridor leading to Crimea, disrupting Russian military logistics. General Malomuzh stated that a collapse has already occurred in Crimea, particularly in the energy sector. This has caused severe difficulties for Russian troops, who are now facing a shortage of supplies.

Mykola Malomuzh, who served as head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service from 2005 to 2010, pointed out that blocking the land corridor to Crimea and southern Ukraine is creating a resource deficit for Russian forces. He emphasized that Ukrainian troops are not only targeting troop movements but also destroying reserves heading toward units in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

'We are also covering bridges and passageways' — Mykola Malomuzh.

Energy Collapse and Resource Shortages

In Crimea, which hosts five airfields, the situation is becoming increasingly dire. According to Malomuzh, the region is experiencing an energy collapse accompanied by major problems, including a lack of ammunition for military equipment and drones.

'The Russians need to maintain their aviation' — Mykola Malomuzh, highlighting the critical nature of the situation for the Russian armed forces.

Ukraine's control over the land corridor to Crimea carries strategic importance, as it not only disrupts Russian military supply chains but could also significantly impact the course of combat operations in the region. Complications in the energy sector and resource shortages may reduce the operational capacity of Russian forces, thereby opening up new opportunities for Ukrainian troops.

These developments reflect a shift in the conflict's dynamics and underscore the importance of controlling key territories in the war between Ukraine and Russia.
