The Ukrainian national ice hockey team won their third match at the World Championship in Division IA. After three rounds, the Ukrainians were in second place in Group A, thanks to victories over Romania and Italy (in overtime) and a loss to Great Britain (also in overtime). In the fourth round, Ukraine faced the Polish team, which also had six points. The first period ended without goals. In the sixth minute of the second period, the Poles opened the scoring, but by the end of the period, Viktor Zakharov equalized the score. In the third period, Zakharov put Ukraine ahead, and then Stanislav Sadovnikov and Daniil Tracht each scored a goal, resulting in a final score of 4:1 in favor of Ukraine. Thanks to this victory, the Ukrainian team strengthened their position in second place with 9 points before the last round. The top two teams will advance to the elite division, while the tournament outsider will be relegated to Division IB. Ukraine will play their last group stage match against Japan on Saturday, May 3, at 12:30 PM Kyiv time. Recall that in the third round, Ukraine defeated Romania.
