Ukraine became a member of the International Fund for Agricultural Development
The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval, announced that Ukraine officially joined the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). He emphasized that IFAD, the only agency of the United Nations, specializes in the development of the agricultural sector and food systems. This is an important achievement worked on by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, and as a result of the last working meeting with IFAD, it became the 179th member country.
Koval noted that the main priority of IFAD is to support the development of small farming. This will help entrepreneurs increase competitiveness, strengthen their position in the market, and generally develop the agricultural sector.
In addition, Ukrainian producers will gain access to inexpensive financial resources, grant support, and the opportunity to participate in the Fund's tenders for the procurement of goods and services. Investments will also be available to support sustainable development in areas such as increasing productivity, increasing incomes, implementing innovative technologies, and resilience to crises and climate changes.
