Ukraine Builds a Layered Air Defense: A New Protective Shield for Western Regions.
Ukraine’s Air Defense System Gets a Major Upgrade
According to UATV: On March 26, 2023, Pavel Lakiychuk, head of military security programs at the Center for Globalistics 'Strategy XXI,' discussed the ongoing evolution and enhancement of Ukraine’s air defense capabilities. He emphasized that the country is actively improving its anti-aircraft tools, a critical component of security amid modern threats.
According to Lakiychuk, a multi-layered air defense system has been established, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and novel approaches to safeguard the country’s airspace. He specifically highlighted new defensive perimeters being prepared for Ukraine’s western regions.
'We are not just using sound-detection stations; we have established a line of these stations behind the front line to detect enemy drones at the earliest stage of their entry into our airspace.' Pavel Lakiychuk
The expert noted that the air defense system is evolving at a rapid pace. 'Every day, this system is being modified and improved. It is evolving faster than the enemy’s means of attack can develop,' he stressed. These changes reflect Ukraine’s adaptation to new security challenges and its determination to ensure effective protection of its airspace.
This modernization of Ukraine’s air defense underscores the country’s strategy to bolster national security in the face of escalating threats from the aggressor. The creation of a multi-layered defense system and the deployment of state-of-the-art technologies demonstrate Ukraine’s commitment to adapting to contemporary military challenges and securing both its citizens and territories. It also highlights the importance of international support in strengthening the nation’s defensive capabilities.
