Ukrainians reach the final of the Euro beach volleyball for the first time: how Gladun and Lazarenko overcame the Spaniards.
The Ukrainian duo won and achieved a historic result for the country, reported the Novyny.LIVE portal.
At the European Beach Volleyball Championship held in Düsseldorf, Germany, the semifinals in the women's category took place. The Ukrainian duo of Marina Gladun and Tetiana Lazarenko competed in this stage of the tournament.
The Gladun and Lazarenko duo defeated the Spanish pair Alvarez and Moreno with a score of 2:1 (15:21, 21:16, 15:11). The first set was successful for the Spaniards, but the Ukrainians managed to win the next two sets and secure their place in the final.
In the decisive tie-break, the Ukrainian duo once again demonstrated better play and won with a score of 15:11. This victory brought Ukraine its first-ever medal in women's Euro beach volleyball. In the final, they will face the French duo Vieira and Chamero.
As a result of their performance at the European Beach Volleyball Championship, Ukrainian athletes Marina Gladun and Tetiana Lazarenko achieved historic success for the country by reaching the final of the tournament for the first time. The victory over the Spanish duo in the semifinals secured them a place on the podium and a chance to win gold in the match against the French athletes in the final.
