The Ukrainian team won five medals at the European Karate Championship
The 60th jubilee continental karate championship, with representatives from 50 European countries, has concluded in Yerevan. Ukraine was represented by 18 athletes, five of whom are in the top 10 of the WKF world ranking.
- Oleksandra Sholokhova - gold (61 kg)
- Dariya Bulay - silver (over 68 kg)
- Valeriy Chobotar - silver (84 kg)
- Elina Seylemyeneva - bronze (68 kg)
- Rizvan Talibov - bronze (over 84 kg)
Overall, Ukraine ranked 8th in the medal standings of the championship. This tournament is a qualifier for the world championship, which will take place in Cairo in November.
Unfortunately, the Russian Ernest Sharafutdinov, who illegally visited Crimea, became the European champion in his weight category. It is worth noting that last year he also violated the law by visiting Crimea during preparation for competitions in Croatia.
Convicted for illegal visit to Crimea, Sharafutdinov also supported Russian aggression on Instagram, informs 'Glavkom'.
