Ukrainian taekwondo athlete won the first medal in the history of the World Championship.
According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian taekwondo athlete Artem Garbar from Donetsk won a bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Championship (WTF) in China in the weight category up to 87 kg. Artem reached the semifinals but unfortunately lost to the Italian Alessio Simone. This is the first medal for the athlete at world championships and the first awarding for Ukrainian men's taekwondo in history.
Situation with Russian athletes
The FIS Council voted to exclude athletes with an Individual Neutral Status (AIN) from qualifying events for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan...
It should be noted that Russian speed skater Daniil Naidenishev, who has the status of a neutral ISU athlete, turned out to be an admirer of the Russian occupier Mikhail Lebedev. They maintain contact on Instagram, where Lebedev shares his criminal actions against Ukraine, and Naidenishev supports him.
This is the first medal for Ukraine at the World Taekwondo Championship, and it is a significant achievement for Ukrainian sports. At the same time, the FIS decision to exclude athletes from Russia and Belarus from qualifying events for the Olympic Games underscores the strict approach towards athletes who violate international standards and support aggression and occupation.
Artem Garbar's achievement inspires young athletes in Ukraine and emphasizes the importance of support and achievements in sports, even amid conflict. The FIS decision sends a serious signal to countries that continue aggressive policies on the international stage, emphasizing that sports, like politics, have their principles.
