Padel courts in Ukraine can't keep up with soaring player demand.
Ukraine's padel boom faces a court shortage
According to Novyny.live: Interest in padel is rising fast across Ukraine, but the country's sports infrastructure is struggling to keep pace. According to Olesya Nikolenko, head of the Ukrainian Padel Federation, the number of people eager to play far outstrips the number of available courts. Currently, Ukraine has roughly 200 padel courts, while about 10,000 people actively play the sport within the country, and another 10,000 Ukrainians play padel abroad.
Club booking systems are often filled a week in advance, a clear sign of the sport's growing popularity. Olesya Nikolenko highlighted the situation:
'The number of people who want to play padel greatly exceeds the number of courts in the country. Today, about 10,000 Ukrainians play inside the country, and there are only about 200 courts. That is not enough, so we are actively helping to open new facilities and bring in partners.' Olesya Nikolenko, head of the Ukrainian Padel Federation
Investment push for new courts
The federation is calling for investment in infrastructure to meet the surging demand for padel. This is seen as a crucial step to support the sport's growth in Ukraine and ensure opportunities for everyone who wants to play. Given the strong interest, creating comfortable playing conditions and providing access to proper sports facilities has become a priority.
The rising enthusiasm for padel in Ukraine underscores the urgent need to develop the country's sports infrastructure. Expanding the number of courts could not only satisfy player demand but also promote healthier lifestyles among the population. For the federation, attracting partners and investors will be key to keeping up with trends already seen in other countries.
