Travelers Warned of Longer Waits at Poland Border as Passenger Traffic Expected to Rise 20%.
Surge in Border Crossings with Poland
According to Novyny.live: Lines are forming at the Polish border due to a significant increase in passenger traffic, though no systematic denials of entry for Ukrainians have been reported. Approximately half of all passenger and vehicle crossings occur at the Poland-Ukraine border. This surge is driven by heightened demand, especially during peak hours. More people are leaving Ukraine than returning, further contributing to the queues.
Trends and Official Remarks
This rise in border activity is typical for the summer season. Over this period, traffic at the western border can increase by about 20%. Andriy Demchenko noted that despite the longer lines,
“we do not observe any systematic pattern of refusals for Ukrainians crossing the border with Poland”.
He added,
“generally, on weekday mornings and also on Sunday mornings, there are no significant queues at the border.”This indicates that, despite the overall increase in travelers, conditions remain stable during certain hours.
The growing number of people crossing the Ukraine-Poland border reflects a rise in travel activity, likely tied to summer vacations and an improving economic outlook. Even with longer wait times, the absence of widespread entry denials points to steady and efficient operations by border authorities. This suggests that border control agencies are prepared to handle the seasonal surge in traffic.
