Cases of the dangerous virus - foot-and-mouth disease - have been detected at the borders of Ukraine. This information was reported by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

Foot-and-mouth disease was discovered in the countries of the European Union. The first case of the disease was recorded in Germany in January this year. By March, the infection had spread to Hungary, which is 450 kilometers away from Transcarpathia.

The Main Directorate of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Transcarpathian region reports that all necessary measures have been taken to prevent the penetration and spread of foot-and-mouth disease in the region. Additional control has been introduced in the regions of Transcarpathia, Volyn, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi in Ukraine.

Ukraine has not had cases of foot-and-mouth disease for 40 years. This is an important infectious disease that is transmitted through the air and affects animals - both domestic (cows, goats, pigs, buffalo) and wild (deer, boars).

The State Border Control Administration emphasizes the main routes of transmission of foot-and-mouth disease:

  • direct contact with infected animals;
  • consumption of animal products;
  • contact with contaminated objects and substances;
  • airborne transmission under certain conditions.

Symptoms of foot-and-mouth disease in animals include fever, blisters and erosions in the mouth and other parts of the body. Dizziness, loss of appetite, limping, and the possibility of abortions in pregnant animals are also observed. For young animals, foot-and-mouth disease is particularly dangerous, as they can suddenly die. In lactating cows, milk production decreases.

It should be noted that a new virus targeting the Android system has appeared on Telegram.
