The Ukrainian team in checkers won three medals at the European Championship in Brussels
Participants of the European Championship in checkers, which took place in Brussels, returned home with three medals. The best results in the women's rapid competition were shown by Ukrainian athletes. The silver medal was won by Kharkiv's Anastasia Hlushko, and the bronze went to Odesa's Viktoriya Motryčko. The first place in this discipline was taken by Natalia Sadowska from Poland.
Viktoriya Motryčko also won another bronze medal in blitz, while the gold and silver in blitz were shared by players from Latvia and Poland, respectively. It is worth noting that athletes from Russia and Belarus did not participate in the competition, having been disqualified due to interference in Ukraine's affairs.
After the championship, Magnus Carlsen, the 16th world chess champion, posted on social media the news that his wife is expecting a child. This happened just a few months after their wedding in January this year.
