Lyubov Zhiltsova-Lysenko became a 12-Time world champion in chess among women with visual impairments
67-year-old Kyiv resident Lyubov Zhiltsova-Lysenko won the World Chess Championship among women with visual impairments in India, claiming her 12th world champion title. This was reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
«Ukrainian chess player – 12-time world champion! Kyiv resident Lyubov Zhiltsova-Lysenko won the World Women's Chess Championship among players with visual impairments (IBCA World Women Chess Championship 2024), held in the Indian city of Bengaluru», – the message states.
The 67-year-old athlete, as noted, scored nine points out of nine possible and for the twelfth time in her career became the strongest on the planet in this type of competition.
In 1996, the Ukrainian chess player was awarded the title of FIDE Women International Master (WIM).
Let us recall that on October 4 in Vinnytsia, representatives of 23 teams from eight regions of the country gathered to compete for the championship of Ukraine in rapid and blitz chess among club teams. The competitions are held at the base of the Vinnytsia City Children's and Youth Sports School No. 6.
Incidentally, the star Ukrainian chess player Anna Muzychuk refused to shake hands with two neutral athletes holding Russian citizenship at the Candidates Tournament 2024 in Canada.
