Ukrainian Skater Fedir Kulish to Compete for Latvia at 2026 Winter Olympics.
Fedir Kulish's Switch to Representing Latvia
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian figure skater Fedir Kulish will compete for Latvia at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. This follows his inclusion on the updated roster published by the Latvian National Olympic Committee. Latvia initially listed 65 athletes, later adding three more, including Kulish, to its delegation.
A New Chapter in Kulish's Career
Kulish moved to Riga in 2022 and began officially representing Latvia in the autumn of 2023. Joining him on the Latvian team are speed skater Reinis Berzins and biathlete Edgars Mise. A significant achievement for the Latvian team came in 2025, when Fedir Kulish, alongside Deniss Vasiljevs, secured two Olympic quota spots for Latvia in figure skating.
This move marks a pivotal shift in Kulish's athletic career, launching a new phase where he will represent Latvia on the prestigious international stage of the Olympic Games. Such changes of sporting nationality are governed by specific International Olympic Committee rules and are not uncommon in elite sports. Kulish's decision underscores the dynamic nature of modern athletic careers, where athletes may seek new opportunities to compete at the highest level, sometimes in response to broader geopolitical circumstances.
