Ukrainian teenagers to be restricted from accessing popular drinks.

Members of the 'Servant of the People' faction, Serhiy Gryvko and Volodymyr Kreidenko, proposed a draft law that prohibits the sale of energy drinks to individuals under 18 years old.
According to the initiative, minors will face difficulties accessing energy drinks. In addition to the ban on direct sales, the draft law provides for the removal of such drinks from vending machines and restrictions on sales via the internet.
Age verification of the buyer will be conducted as necessary.
'The constant consumption of stimulatory drinks can exhaust the body, despite the temporary feeling of vigor and increased productivity,' the explanatory note to the draft law states.
The authors of the draft law refer to scientific studies indicating that the consumption of energy drinks may lead to stress, anxiety, and even suicidal thoughts among youth.
There is already international experience in restricting the sale of energy drinks. For example, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland were the first to impose a ban on sales to minors, while similar restrictions exist in Denmark and Norway.
The draft law is under consideration by the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Previously in Ukraine, the sale of certain types of cigarettes was already restricted.
