They don't want to see Ukraine and me personally in the governing body of UEFA, - Shevchenko.
President of the Ukrainian Football Association Andriy Shevchenko expressed his comments regarding the election results to the UEFA Executive Committee, which took place at the 49th congress of the organization in Belgrade. Shevchenko received votes from 15 European national associations, but he placed fourth out of five. The UAF President expressed his concern that his non-election is a consequence of political aspects. He stated that he will not change his principles and will continue reforms in Ukrainian football.
At the UEFA congress, there was also a vote for the return of Russian teams to the international arena after the war ends, as stated by UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin. Currently, Russian clubs and national teams have been excluded from participating in FIFA and UEFA tournaments since 2022 due to Russian aggression against Ukraine.
