Ukrainian Railways Increases Bedding Rental Fee for Overnight Trains.
Price Hike for Bedding Kits
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian Railways, known as Ukrzaliznytsia, has raised the price for a bedding kit on its overnight trains to 95 hryvnias, effective March 1, 2024. This represents an increase of 15 hryvnias, as the previous cost was 80 hryvnias. This state-owned operator manages the vast majority of Ukraine's rail network.
This marks the first price adjustment since May 2024, when the cost rose from 50 to 80 hryvnias. Prior to that increase, the price for bedding had remained stable for five consecutive years.
Passengers should also note that conductors are required to collect the used bedding kits at least 30 minutes before the train's scheduled arrival.
Additional Service Updates
In other service news, Ukrzaliznytsia launched a trial of paid Wi-Fi service in early 2026 on train numbers 95 and 96, which operate on the Kyiv-Rakhiv route.
The bedding price increase is part of the company's broader policy of tariff adjustments in response to economic pressures. While such changes can affect passenger costs and comfort, especially on long overnight journeys, the introduction of services like paid Wi-Fi indicates an ongoing effort to modernize amenities and improve the customer experience.
