Poor match for United

In the 62nd minute of the match, when United was trailing 0-2, cameras showed Amorim in his coaching area.

The 40-year-old coach was working with a tactical board, moving magnetic pieces around, trying to explain a new formation for the team.

However, Amorim's appearance, trying to turn things around combined with the loss to a club ranked 58 places lower in the English football pyramid, caused laughter among many fans.

Humorous fans created a series of funny images depicting the coach doing something else with his tactical board. One showed him with an Etch A Sketch, another during a game of 'Guess Who', and also 'Operation'. In one variation, Amorim was seen contemplating Pokémon cards.

Several fans criticized him for his board work style, calling the coach a 'poser'. Despite Mbemo and Maguire scoring two goals at the end of the match, United lost in a penalty shootout.

Amorim's Reaction

During the penalty shootout, Amorim could not watch the events unfold from the sidelines, and one frustrated fan called him a 'weakling'. After the game, the coach shared his thoughts:

“In the end, it doesn’t matter if we recover or not, the important signs are what the team showed during the game”
“I think the best team won, the only team that was on the field”

He also shared his feelings about the support from fans:

“I feel very sorry for the fans. The support they gave me, along with the support of the team, is important to me. I just want to apologize.”

United’s next match will be against Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday, ahead of the international break.

It is now crucial how the team responds to this disappointing result in the upcoming matches, especially in the Premier League. Fans, frustrated with the tactics, demand improvement in the team’s performance, and the next match will provide an opportunity to demonstrate how United can handle this feedback.
