USAID announced large-scale assistance to Ukraine for energy and humanitarian needs.


The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided financial assistance amounting to 825 million dollars for the Ukrainian energy system this winter.
Samantha Power, the administrator of USAID, noted that with the approach of winter, Russia is again attacking the energy infrastructure to use the cold weather as a weapon against Ukraine. Therefore, USAID has allocated almost twice as much money as last year for the Ukrainian energy system.
"With the approach of winter, Putin is again attacking the energy infrastructure, hoping to use the cold weather as a weapon against the Ukrainian people. Therefore, we have allocated 825 million dollars for Ukraine's energy system this winter. This is almost twice as much as we invested last year,"noted Power.
In particular, USAID is launching the "Rehab for you" program with a budget of 13 million dollars. According to Power, currently in Ukraine, more than 250,000 people need rehabilitation support.
Additionally, USAID is allocating 237 million dollars for humanitarian aid, which will provide Ukrainians with essential items such as food, shelter, and medical services, both for residents of the country and for displaced persons.
Moreover, USAID has funded the printing of 3.2 million textbooks for young students, which make up 20% of all schoolchildren in Ukraine.
