Oleksandr Usyk risks losing the WBO title: why Parker's team is dissatisfied.
Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk has left himself without the allure of world titles in the heavyweight division from the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO. He is now the absolute champion of the WBO.
Joseph Parker's promoter expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in negotiations with Usyk's team regarding the mandatory title defense, emphasizing the importance of quickly starting the discussions.
Usyk needs to win
David Higgins claims that negotiations have not yet started, although there is a deadline set for July 24. If the parties fail to reach an agreement, the WBO will conduct a bidding process with a minimum price of 1 million dollars.
“Usyk must start negotiations if he truly values his status as the absolute champion,” Higgins noted.
The promoter emphasizes that Parker deserves a title shot after many victories over strong opponents and considers the idea of a Joshua fight with Paul instead of facing Parker unacceptable.
Higgins also highlighted that Parker wants to prove his worth by winning the title in the ring, not through Usyk's refusal.
Thanks to his victory over Daniel Dubois, Oleksandr Usyk became the absolute WBO champion, but he needs to address the mandatory title defense question against Joseph Parker. Parker's promoter expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in the negotiations and stressed the importance of quickly starting interactions to agree on the terms of the upcoming fight.Read also
