Spain plans to issue visas to freelancers.
Spain is considering the introduction of a "digital nomad" visa due to the increasing number of people who switched to remote work during the pandemic. In many countries, freelancers use tourist visas, but Spain plans to create special permits for this category. The "digital nomads" project, developed by the Spanish government, envisions the approval of these permits in the coming months.
With the adoption of the law, foreigners from all countries will be able to come to Spain for a year.
These foreigners will be exempted from the need to obtain a residence permit; they will only need to obtain a special visa. The "digital nomad" visas can be renewed twice, which means the possibility of staying in the country for three years without interruption. The right to obtain this visa will have persons working remotely for foreign companies and can confirm this. A bank statement may be required to apply for a visa. This new visa will be available to foreign citizens who are not citizens of the European Union.
