Most officials at NATO headquarters believe that Ukraine will not be able to regain the lost territories. However, no one wants to officially talk about it.

According to the "Hvylya", such information was disclosed by the German publication Welt.

Thus, according to the journalists' interlocutors, the development of the situation in the combat zone for Kyiv is "much worse" than often portrayed in public discourse. At the same Time, they emphasize that the breakthrough of Ukraine's second line of defense by Russian troops is "only a matter of time".

Therefore, military and diplomats from the European Union and NATO predict a ceasefire in the conflict zone within the next 6-9 months regardless of the outcome of the US presidential election.

"Given the circumstances, I see no other way out than a swift ceasefire. Such a situation could last for years, and local ceasefire violations are likely to happen again and again," emphasized a high-ranking diplomat who spoke with Welt media representatives.

In response to the question of whether President Putin would take advantage of the time won by the ceasefire to consolidate his troops for a new attack, the interlocutor said: "The West should also use the pause provided to increase its defense capabilities. Then it will be able to deter the Kremlin from new offensives."

At the same time, the fading faith in Ukraine's victory is explained by the fact that the West in the future is unlikely to increase military support for Kyiv to a level that would allow a successful large-scale counteroffensive.

Furthermore, analysts of the publication write that Washington and Berlin are too afraid of escalation of the conflict and Putin's unpredictability. Military experts believe that US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz fear that under excessive pressure, the President of the Russian Federation may use tactical nuclear weapons. Or that the dissolution of the Russian Federation could occur, meaning control over more than six thousand Russian nuclear warheads could fall into the hands of people like Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

Recall, a US general predicted how F-16s will affect the course of the war in Ukraine.
