Odesa to Triple Fee for Public Toilet Use.
Odesa Council to Vote on Public Toilet Price Hike
According to Novyny.live: The Odesa City Council's executive committee will consider a proposal on March 12 to raise the fee for using public toilets from 4 hryvnias to 10 hryvnias per visit. This would represent a 150% increase from the current rate, which has been in place since 2016. Public toilet fees are a common municipal issue in many cities, balancing service quality with accessibility.
Exemptions for Vulnerable Groups
If approved, the new tariff structure will provide free access for several designated groups, including:
- People with disabilities;
- Children with disabilities and their parents or guardians;
- Children under five years old;
- People disabled as a result of war;
- War veterans and combatants;
- Families of fallen military personnel;
- Families of deceased war veterans;
- Victims of the Revolution of Dignity.
The proposed increase is intended to fund infrastructure upgrades and improve maintenance standards for the facilities. While the significant price jump may prove controversial for many residents and visitors, the city administration argues it is necessary to modernize services. The final decision rests with the city council's upcoming vote.
