In Ukraine, potatoes, cabbage, onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes continue to rise in price: what are the prices in supermarkets and at the market.
Vegetable prices in Ukraine continue to rise, and some of them have become a significant burden on the wallet. According to the Minfin portal, the prices of potatoes, cabbage, onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes have increased significantly.
Vegetables are an important component of the diet of most Ukrainians; they are not only used in many traditional dishes, but also supply the body with vitamins and minerals. However, recently, there has been a trend towards rising prices for these essential products. Many people are rushing to stock up for the winter to avoid overpaying in the future.
In particular, potatoes have risen in price from 22.16 UAH/kg to 29.23 UAH/kg, and young potatoes can be purchased for 37.90 UAH/kg, instead of 26.20 UAH/kg.
The prices for white cabbage have increased from 28.22 UAH/kg to 32.20 UAH/kg. However, young cabbage has slightly become cheaper, and it can be bought for 61.77 UAH/kg, instead of 67.22 UAH/kg.
The average price of white onions has risen from 27.75 UAH/kg to 31.90 UAH/kg, while regular onions sell for 14.55 UAH/kg, and red onions for 27.15 UAH/kg.
Cucumbers and tomatoes show the greatest jump in prices. Cucumbers have risen in price from 66.37 UAH/kg to 89.29 UAH/kg, and tomatoes from 73.99 UAH/kg to 94.96 UAH/kg.
On average, cucumbers sell for 99.90 UAH/kg, and tomatoes for 89.90 UAH/kg.
On other markets, vegetables can be found for less money. For example, in Kyiv, potatoes can be purchased for 20 to 26 UAH/kg, and onions for 13 to 15 UAH/kg. Young cabbage can be bought for 38-45 UAH/kg, and cucumbers for 80-110 UAH/kg.
Red tomatoes cost from 45 to 60 UAH/kg.
Overall, vegetable prices continue to rise, making the situation difficult for many Ukrainians. Remember, if you want to save money, make your winter preparations in advance.
