The Aggressor State Russia Has Recruited Over 15,000 Nepalese for War in Ukraine

Russia has recruited more than 15,000 citizens of Nepal to participate in the conflict in Ukraine. For this, they were promised a salary of 2,000 dollars and Russian citizenship. This was reported by CNN.

According to journalists, in 2023, Moscow offered foreigners a lucrative deal to join the Russian army. The deal included a monthly salary of 2,000 dollars and a simplified process for obtaining a Russian passport. A Nepalese passport is considered one of the least prestigious, and the living standards of its citizens are among the lowest in the world.

"I joined the Russian army not for pleasure. In Nepal, I had no employment opportunities. But looking back, it was the wrong decision. We did not imagine that we would be sent to the front lines so quickly and that the situation would be so horrific," said one of the returned Nepalese.

According to the Nepalese man, he first arrived in Moscow, then was sent for a short training course, after which he went to fight in Bakhmut in Donetsk region. He stayed there for about a month, after which he was injured.

The Nepalese government asserts that about 200 of its citizens are fighting on the side of the Russian army, 13 people have died, and four more are in captivity. However, a former foreign minister of Nepal stated that between 14,000 and 15,000 Nepalese are fighting in Ukraine.

It turned out that Nepalese mercenaries receive training at the "Avangard" center near Moscow. There they are taught how to fire from rocket launchers, machine guns, and how to operate drones and tanks. Other foreign mercenaries are also being trained at this center.
