The Unified Body Identification Center has started operating in Ukraine: how the system works.
New Center for Identifying the Deceased in Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: Today, the Unified Body Identification Center for the deceased has started operating in Ukraine. According to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, this center will help identify the individuals of the severely indistinguishable bodies and establish the names of those who died in the war with Russia. Joint processes and information exchange with international partners will allow the use of the best global practices.
The centralization of regional forensic expert bureaus and collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs have already shown positive results: the identification of deceased bodies has become faster and more effective. For example, the implemented project of the Institute of Forensic Expertise uses biometric data from the State Migration Service, allowing for quicker results than a standard DNA analysis, saving resources and simplifying the identification process.
The establishment of the new center underscores Ukraine's commitment to ensuring the dignified commemoration of the deceased and supporting families who have lost their loved ones. This is an important step toward improving the provision of justice and restoring fairness in a war that has affected millions of Ukrainians.
