A renowned doctor predicted how many years it will take for Ukrainians to disappear.
The Ukrainian nation may disappear within 180 years
Renowned doctor of Ukraine Olha Bohomolets warns that the country may lose its national identity over the next 180 years due to increased mortality and decreased birth rates. She noted that even without losses in the war and emigration, the people will cease to be Ukrainian.
According to the UN, Ukraine's population has decreased by 10 million people, which is a quarter of the population, as a result of war, refugee losses, and declining birth rates.
Quote: 'That's six generations of 30 years each - zero Ukrainians remain. So, of course, the territories will remain, someone will sow grain on them, someone will, but they will no longer be Ukrainians.'
According to the Ministry of Justice, the birth rate in Ukraine has decreased by one and a half times from 132595 children to 87655 in 2021. To improve the situation, lawmakers propose to review childbirth benefits.
In 2024, 161.9 thousand children were born in Ukraine, according to the number of baby boxes and the received monetary compensation for families. However, the ratio of one newborn to three deceased is one of the key indicators of the demographic crisis in Ukraine.
For comparison, in 2018-2020, there were two deceased for every child born.
